Forks in the Road

The division between people in this country has never been so clear as in the difference between these two blog entries:

• Daveawayfromhome: glad that's over
  
• Orion Hood: Unicorns and Rainbows! - si vis pacem, para bellum
  

As with all such extreme viewpoints, I suspect reality lies somewhere in the middle. Time will tell.

At least my wife and I are doing our part to help turn things around. We're stimulating the economy by spending all our money on this freakin' house. Ha!

Wanna see? Well, tough, because it's going to be a while. Time is once again scarce.

Circus, Circus!

New entry on the Computer Circus blog. This was not the update I promised I would make a few weeks ago, but if you like that blog at all, you might like the new update. Just something fun I'm playing with.

Happy New Year

2009 is going to be great. I feel it.

I kicked off the new year with a couple of bangs around midnight. I found a box of fireworks that I have had since I was about 14 or 15 years old (I'm a bit of a pack rat). I lit a couple of the smaller ones, but they were duds, so I thought I would try the big ones. These were bigger than M-80s, and probably aren't made anymore (I got them in Mexico). But they worked.

Wow did they work.

I set off two of them (I have five left). Then I took the only, single bottle rocket that I had, leaned it up against a log, and lit the fuse. I didn't think it would work. I have had this thing for like 30 years! The fuse burned slowly, sputtered a bit like it wanted to go out, then, suddenly, FSSSST! The little bottle rocket took to the night sky, arched over the land, then popped.

It worked! The little rocket that could.

2009 is going to be a great year.
